Centre County Whole Home Repairs Application Requirements
Individuals must complete the application for the specific scholarship/grant they are interested in for the round of the Centre County Whole-Homes Repair Scholarship & Grant Program are being accepted through Friday, August 2, 2024. Selection for scholarships/grants will be determined by the WHR Workforce Committee. based on information provided on the application forms. There are no financial eligibility requirements; however, income level will be documented and collected ie. paystubs, previous year's taxes. Successful applicants will be eligible for scholarships and/or grants of up to a combined total of $2,500 per year/per company.
To be eligible for the Centre County Whole Home Repair Scholarship & Grant Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Reside in Centre County

Businesses in Centre County

For scholarships, enrolled in a post-secondary program that focuses on trade education in Centre County. This includes, but is not limited to, carpentry, HVAC, masonry, electrical, and general building construction.

For grants, employed by a company that focuses on residential remodeling construction.

Awards are subject to the following parameters:
Maximum award of $2,500 per year combined total for scholarships and grants per applicant.
Academic Scholarships: Maximum award of $2,500 per year combined total for scholarships and grants per applicant.

Available to first year students only starting Fall 2024.

Documentation of furthering education in the residential construction industry.

Funds will be sent directly to educational institution.
Training grants: Maximum award of $2,500 per year combined total for scholarships and grants per applicant/company.
The Whole Home Repair Training Grant (WHRG) is intended to provide one-time need based grants to residential construction trade employees for use in certification and continuing education credits necessary for improving or gaining skills leading to employment or career advancements.

Grants will not be awarded for prerequisite courses or to those needing or choosing immediate continuation of their education beyond the current program for which the grant is requested.

A WHRG is not to be used for living expenses or to repay educational loans or personal debt.

A WHRG grant is a grant-in-aid for education related expenses such as:

tuition
-
books, supplies, software
-
testing fees
-
transportation (only for estimated cost of gas, parking, and local bus fare, not for auto loan payments or maintenance)

equipment/tools necessary for the course of study

Grants may be awarded for academic or technical courses including online programs offered by educational institutions in the United States or Canada.

Tool/equipment grants: Maximum award of $2,500 per year combined total for scholarships and grants per applicant.

Can cover 100% of tool/equipment cost for new residential construction industry employees.

Can cover 50% of tool/equipment cost for current residential construction industry employees.

Tool selection will be based off of approved trade tool list at participating locations.
